Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge (INWR) is visited by an estimated 80,000 people each year. These visitors include hikers, bird watchers, hunters, anglers, photographers, students of conservation and wildlife and those seeking a simple walk in nature.
Donations to FINWR may qualify for matching funds.
Donations are tax deductible. FINWR is a registered 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization. Check with your tax advisor.
INWR is the only National Wildlife Refuge in Western New York.

Volunteer Oportunities
As a member of FINWR, there are many ways to help. We can use your help no matter what your skill level is. Want to learn something new? We can train you, or connect you with a mentor to learn more about an activity or skill!
Here are some of the activities that members work on:
- Flyway Nature Store
- Bird banding
- Wildlife surveys
- Trail maintenance
- Habitat maintenance (mowing)
- Habitat construction (bird houses,
- feeders, duck boxes, etc)
- Educational events
- Nest checks
